What’s This?

Hi, you’re friendly author/artist here. I doubt anyone has noticed so far, but I thought I’d bring up some changes that have occurred recently. In order to get more feedback on my art as well as writing– and to break up all of the text that appears–I’ve decided to put photos and art on the home page, i.e. in the blog. Everything is going on the blog and it will be treated like it is–a log/diary/journal.

This isn’t to say that the rest of the site is going to be lax. My portfolios will be updated when I feel like it, but you’ll know when I’ve put something up because it will be on the home page and in the archives. I’ve gone through and added posts for all of the artwork on the days they were originally published. Stories, poems, and prose that I like will go up on the Favorites page as well as Best of the Blog winners. So if you don’t want to go through the archives, but want more than what’s on the front page, go there for your written work and the art pages for visual stuff.

But that’s not all! Commentary and Site Updates page…gone forever. Anything I have to say will be put in a post on the easily accessible front page. Commentary will be in an Author’s note on the bottom of the post. You don’t have to read it, but it’s there just in case. I’ll still keep a running tab on prose/poetry post numbers as well.

Pages may be renamed or added to make the site easier and more comprehensible. I’m still working, but expect changes–visual and otherwise–for the better.

A Word of Explanation

September 1st, 2007 Posted 9:47 pm

I don’t usually take the time to explain the posts here, but I thought I should explain a new tradition I thought of starting. Every month, I’m going to write a story or poem telling the tale of a certain work of music. I don’t know how long they’ll be, but the title will refer to the piece of music I was translating. This is just my thoughts on a story that fits the dramas of the particular classical piece and is not the actual story behind or of the piece. If these posts are not published the first of the month, they will be the first post published, whenever that is.

Just a quick question…

So I’m trying to reorganize my posts because I’m not quite satisfied with the way they are now. It’s a bit messy with certain posts in two different categories and other posts barely in one. But, with any category system, there are some that just don’t fit. Regardless, there are three ways that I can do this:

1. I can keep it the way it is categorizing by genre. I suppose this allows you to look for things according to your favorite genre.
2. I can categorize by archetype, i.e. Paradise Lost, Apocalypse, God Teacher, etc. Again, this focuses on content, but is a more specific way to organize my things. If you don’t know about the archetypes this might be a difficult way to find posts, but there is a search bar.
3. A combination of the two. This will put a post in at least two different categories, so I’m hesitant to do this, but if it would be easier, then I will.

Let me know what you think as a reader, because right now, I’m stuck.

And A Happy New Year!

December 26th, 2006 Posted 10:40 am

As much as I hate to do this, I’m going to take a short hiatus. I want to give all my readers a fair chance to go over all the posts in Best of the Blog. If I continue writing for the week, it may throw some things off and create stress for people who have yet to vote. If it was me, I would be frustrated if there was a better post later in the week. I also feel that the later posts might not be included in the votes because, well, once you’ve voted, you’re not going to go back to see if there are more posts to vote on, are you? Therefore, I won’t be posting again until December 31. (This also gives me a chance to get my homework done before next week when I can spend my time posting.) So, go over to Best of the Blog and take your time to read and vote. I’ll be back on the 31.

The Only Voting Obligation for December

December 10th, 2006 Posted 1:45 pm

Remember to vote! Best of the Blog due date is quickly approaching. Soon it’ll be the last week and you’ll have so much to read. I apologize for the amount of reading to do, but it can’t be helped. Personally, I don’t care how you decide, but I would really like your vote. To review: the last votes will be taken December 31, 2006 at 11:59 PM. On January 1, 2007, I’ll post the winners and put them on the Best of the Blog page. Then, I’ll get rid of all the links for this years posts, and we’ll start over with the post written for the first of the year. If there are any questions, leave a comment and I will answer it.

Catchup

November 10th, 2006 Posted 11:47 pm

Just a little heads up to those who don’t read the Comments page regularly. If you haven’t noticed already, there is a page up called "Best of the Blog." You can get more information if you visit the page, but on that page is a list of all the posts I’ve done this past year. Each post will be judged by you, the reader, on which you think is the best post of the year. On December 31, I will reveal the winners and the next day, we will start anew. Due to the large number of posts that I’ve written from 1/1/06 to now (11/10/06) I highly suggest that you start reading the archives sometime this month. Now, I’ve set up a list on "Best of the Blog" with prompts from each post so that if you think you don’t remember a post, the prompt may jog your memory so you don’t have to read the whole post again. I still think that you should start thinking about this soon.

A problem for me that doesn’t seem like a problem for anyone else is my habit of posting late and unfinished work. So far I have four unfinished posts in the archives (three are very old). I would like some feedback on whether I should finish them, or just leave them be as they are. Keep in mind, if I finish them, I most likely will not have a post for a weekend, or two. In the future, if you prefer all the posts to be finished before I publish them, let me know, but this will cut back on update time. I cannot control the time at which I update the posts, for this is Real Life’s fault and should be blamed on her. The fact that I never finish a post is also partially her fault, but partially mine. I get distracted while writing and then I find it’s 10 or 11 o’clock and can’t finish because I’m falling asleep on my keyboard. If you would be so kind, could you leave a comment telling me what you prefer as a reader and any advice you have.

Another thing if you choose to email me or leave a comment, how does the system work for you? Do you check Commentary, or do you just read the post and that’s it? Do you care about "Best of the Blog" or am I wasting my time? Do you want me to leave little notes like this, or do you just want poetry/ prose? Please, leave a comment with thoughts you have on any ideas I posed in the post above. Thanks.

August 2nd, 2006 Posted 2:03 pm

I updated with a flashback today because I’m going on vacation for the next few days and I couldn’t update on Thursday. Unfortunately, it’s crucial that I update flashbacks three times a week. As it is, I will have everything transferred by March 8, 2007 and if I skip an update, that will become even longer. If things get tough I’ll update everyday in August. I hope it won’t come to that. Other than that, keep checking in. I’m in the middle of finishing the unfinished posts and that won’t come up for a while. The comments has not been updated because I want to make sure people know why we had an unusual post. It shall be gone soon, but the numbers at the top are up to date. Sorry about the inconvenience; I will be back soon.

Summer Schedule

July 16th, 2006 Posted 8:12 pm

As of July 16 until August 22, past updates will be presented Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays to get caught up in a timely manner, unless I physically cannot get to a computer. This will cut down on original updates, but it will get everything transferred in a shorter amount of time. Just keeping you informed…

To Those in America:

July 4th, 2006 Posted 8:39 am

Happy Independance Day! I for one will be celebrating with cake, fruit, and buffalo wings. Everyone pray for no rain!

Besides that point, I want some feedback. I can either post pieces of my story that I’m working on here, in the blog, and keep the whole thing together on a separate page in addition to pieces here and there in the archives, or just put it on a separate page without bothering to post it. Either way is fine with me. I’ll just go write another post right now. You’ll have to wait to see what it is. (Sorry about yesterday’s post, by the way, I got carried away.)

Third, there is a page over there —> where I write commentary about the posts. Any questions you have (like, what the heck is this) may be answered over on that page. If you are curious about what the next post may be, there is also a preview for you. General news besides a few posts, like this one, can be found there as well. Just so you know, it is probably a good idea to check in there once and while. It might not be as interesting as this to read, but it will keep you informed.

That’s about it! For all you Americans out there: Have a terrific Fourth of July! And if you’re not American: Have a wonderful July day!
