There’s Something Romantic

There’s something romantic about falling.
You assume that you’re going to die
But then someone is there to catch you
And with him you glide across the sky.

There’s something romantic about roses
Their velvet melts your doubts away
The odor of petals is intoxicating
And their language can make any heart sway.

There’s something romantic about moonlight
The silver-gold globe softly glowing
Casting slight shadows of trees and flowers
As you feel your relaxation growing

There’s something I’m missing from all of this
Perhaps it’s a bit strange to say
I know of falling and roses and moonlight,
But there’s no one to take my heart away.

I sense a heartfelt truth in this poem. It feels unedited, a first draft straight from the heart - raw emotion. I know well that feeling of loneliness and uncertainty. To say it’s a common plight amongst young people in our hectic world is an un-comforting truth, yet truth it remains.

Be patient, trust your sense of magic, and above all be yourself. Patience opens your heart so when the moment is right the magic you seek can enter. Being true to who you are ensures that the magic is appropriate for the person you are (as opposed to the person you wish to be, or pretend to be.)

Love is indeed a magical thing. It’s out there and looking for you; it will find you soon enough.
