Paintings and Drawings » La cathédrale engloutie
paper collage. Our assignment was to do a paper collage where you take little pieces of paper and use them to shade various shapes. The idea for this one took a little while to do. I started with the stained glass windows…and then was hit with an idea at dinner one evening and couldn’t wait to complete it the next day in art class. It was fun thing to do and very relaxing, even though it took me longer than anticipated.
The title comes from Debussey’s piano piece of the same name. I’m open to interpretation about it, though. If you think the boy is somewhere else, by all means put him there. I just had a cool idea of someone getting stuck when the cathedral went down. Look up the story, it’s quite fun.
